This experience is designed to prepare you for parading and give you a complete immersion in the tradition of Carnival through the intoxicating rhythm of samba and the drums from a Carnival Queen from one of Rio´s most renowned Samba Schools.
Under the guidance of this guru, you’ll not only learn the principles of samba but experience the magic and intense energy of this Brazilian tradition.
She will challenge you, teach you the basic samba steps and moves, and help you understand the world of carnival and samba from the perspective of the local Cariocas. You’ll also be taken through some simple moves on the float, a unique opportunity to engage with the crowd and step into your inner confidence and presence.

Through partnering with experts who live and breathe the Carnival and its culture, we can open the doors to this secret world for you to join a samba school and its community.
It is a huge privilege rich in history and culture. Samba is the lifeblood of these poor communities, and Carnival is a year in the making, with months of planning, creation, and rehearsing every week.
The song of the samba school is more than an anthem; it is the courage to tell stories that have never been told. You will learn this song in Portuguese with support from our partner, who will also brief you on the school’s theme for 2026 and its meaning.
It isn’t about getting every single word right, it is about becoming part of the culture by bringing your energy and action. We will support you, educate you and inspire you so when you arrive in Rio, you will already have a strong connection to your school.
In 2014, I traveled to Brazil for my very first Carnival… and I was absolutely blown away.
